Project Engineer

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing and controlling project documents including but not limited to; Submittal process, solicitation of project required materials, RFI process, assisting in bid solicitation, subcontractor material procurement, attend and maintain Owner, Architect and Contractor [OAC] meeting minutes, procurement scheduling with Superintendent and maintaining relationships with clients and design professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and create/maintain professional client relationships

  • Assist with marketing work

  • Coordination with Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing [MEP] design build trades

  • Coordinate and compile all design documents

  • Assist with permit submittal process

  • Interact with city/state governing agencies

  • Ability to read, interpret and communicate construction documents, plans, specifications, manufactures data sheets, etc.

  • Upload project information/details to PDF documents

  • Assist with subcontractor buy-out

  • Generate pre-bid request for information (RFI) and route to owner/architect

  • Generate Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC) meeting agenda

  • Generate pre-construction schedule activities related to submittals and material procurement

  • Generate submittal register/schedule based on detailed review of project plans, specifications and budget

  • Initiate early communication and constant follow-up with Subcontractors to provide detailed product submittals

  • Thoroughly read and cross check subcontract submittals with project documents to compile and transmit a submittal package that the design team can easily understand and quickly respond to

  • Work with Superintendent on construction schedule

  • Works with Superintendent to identify, document and compile all related information to provide design team with a Request for Information [RFI] that will result in a document that the design team can easily understand and quickly respond to

  • Provide continual follow-up and communication with design team and owner/client to ensure all open RFI’s and submittals are responded to in timely manner

  • Generate logs and provide weekly print outs of RFI, Submittal and ATP logs for weekly meetings

  • Generate meeting minutes and distribute

  • Attend punch list walk and generate punch list for distribution to subcontractors, design team and owner/client

  • Attend monthly safety meetings

  • Walk projects and perform safety audits

  • Walk projects to ensure quality is being delivered (pre-punch)

  • Foster and maintain professional relationships with design professionals

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Valid driver’s license, clean DMV driving record.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate Degree and/or

  • One to three years of verifiable experience as a project coordinator or project engineer in the construction industry.

  • Experience with computers, MS Project, Procore and Bluebeam
